So yeah…

Looks like I'll be looking for a new homestead…

The landlord called last night to let me know they'd be selling this place in the next 6 month.  Not a total out of the blue surprise as they recently divorced and I knew shit would need splitting up. I was hoping the next door neighbor would buy it (2 townhouse duplex) but that seems to have fallen through.  They've offered to split them up…and as much as I love this place and historical neighborhood…its not something I'd like to own. (right beside a busy highway) I can probably stay where I am even with new owners…but I can bet on a rent increase and having to sign a lease. (month to month currently)

So now what? I don't really want to continue to rent…but I don't know what I can afford…or if I can even get a mortgage with all this subprime crap going on. My only experiences with home buying is "My First Place" and "HouseHunters" on HGTV…I'd better start paying closer attention!  A friend at work gave me the card of his mortgage broker who helped with his last two houses…so maybe I'll start there.

I know I want a house….no more sharing a wall. And something old/historical. And that'll mean somewhere other than "inside the beltline"….which is where I've lived for the past 10 years (I've lived in 3 places…all within 5 miles of each other).  But….what I want and what I can get are still up in the air.

I'd stress more if it didn't take so much energy.

Eh….I'll figure it out. Always do.  Will keep you posted…

oh boy, that's poopy. My buddy LeeendaDLL suggests Home Buying for Dummies (not sure if that's the exact title). I bet you could get a good deal on something now, with the housing market the way it is, I don't know about the mortgage thing. Good luck to you, I hope everything goes well. Just be careful about buying a Money Pit! (well, a house is always a money pit…but with an historic home, that could be much worse, as I'm sure youknow!)
    fingers crossed for you.
Oh and the reason I came over here in the first place is, if you like King Khan (I am loving that Shrines disc, btw) check out the Black Lips, they have a similar sound, at least to the BBQ show stuff. I don't have anything from them, but Towel Boy told me about them and I htink I found their myspace or something.

lol…I actually have the book after a recommendation from a co-worker…I've had it forever but before now it wasn't exactly a page turner….guess it'll have to start being one!I actually have a track or two from the Black Lips…"O Katrina" and "Vendi(?) something something" and love both. I was *this* close to buying the CD on my little excursion last week…even had it in my hand…but went with some others. It popped up on the iPod at work today and it and now you have reminded me to search more out….and yeah..that's Shrines disc is sweet
